Sue and Graham
We met as teenagers at University in 1966 and have been together ever since.
We have two offspring, Sarah, born in Bangor in 1973, and Tim,
born in Dolgellau in 1977. Peniarth Isaf has been our family home since 1984.
We are both biology graduates (As of now, fully retired!) and we share a love of
travelling which has obviously rubbed off on our two children.
Sarah
Sarah is a Cambridge graduate who went on to do post-doctoral research at
Bristol University into ultraviolet vision in birds. She has also worked for
the British Association for the Advancement of Science, based next to the
Science Museum in South Kensington, London, and for the Science Learning Centre
in Manchester. Her partner is Andy, who moved from a research post in Cambridge to
a lectureship in Zoology at Liverpool University. One of the perks of academia
is the chance to do research and attend conferences around the world.
Together they have travelled to the USA, Brazil, Finland and Canada. Sarah spent the
summer and autumn of 2001 working in Australia doing research into cuckoos.
They now live in Manchester where Sarah is currently a full time mum to Eddie,
born June 2007
Tim
Tim is a graduate of Leeds University in Maths and Physics. He took four years
out after leaving school to work and travel. He qualified as a hot air balloon
pilot in Arizona and worked for two years in Canada, flying passengers. It was
through ballooning that Tim met Leah who was a student at the University of
Western Ontario, doing a post-graduate degree in political science. Her vacation
job was running the office for Sundance Balloons, taking the bookings and
organising events. Tim and Leah were married in Canada (in Leah's back garden!)
on the 8th September 2001.
Tim is now a permanent resident over there and he works for Toyota Motor Manufacturing
Canada in Cambridge, Ontario. Leah is also taking a maternity break from her career with
TD Bank to be mum to Simon, born May 2007.
