Family News March 2008

Happy St David's Day which of course wouldn't be complete without a few of these bustling their way up through the autumn leaves.

 Tete a Tete Daffodils

What a year of celebrations this is turning out to be. March 1st and our birthday present to each other is our first new car in over ten years.

You would have thought retirement would have been a time in your life for a nippy little roadster just for two. But no, there are child seats, travel cots, high chairs and no end of sundry clobber to be carted all the way to Italy, as well as families and babies.

Happy motoring to Greg who now has the green Golf. Enjoy, but don't go mad!

And the latest family news...... Just how romantic is this:

The morning of Mother's Day and Sarah finds a card on her pillow, love from Eddie to his Mummy.................... and Daddy says will you marry him?

.....She said YES

Congratulations to both of you, and we wait to hear all about it.

This is how we keep in touch with Tim, Leah and Simon, and the latest is..

Simon is now walking! No hands too. It was really lovely to se him go.

Eddie is a few weeks behind but this week has learnt to clap his hands.

Not quite the big day yet but, the celebrations continue through the weekend. Everyone brings a favourite main course dish and we see how many we can get through in one sitting.

Graham Sue and Ann

Look out, don't say you haven't been warned, it's the Alvor Four reunited.

Cheers everyone

A toast everyone, "May these be the worst of our days"

Friends

Another evening of good food, laughter and great company. Long may they continue.

Just the two of us on the big day itself, starting with a meal at Sebastians in Oswestry. It was ten years ago we were last there and had forgotten just how superb their food is. Back for late night champagne and ....chocolate.

Sue's last week before retirement....... No more Fridays!

We are off again to Anglesey to celebrate with Chris and Malcolm, Saturday night out at Erics.

But we're not going anywhere until that final whistle blows.

WALES 29...FRANCE 12

It was good to be in Wales that night.

and now....No more Mondays!!!

Finally....Sue retired after 28 years at Welshpool High School! Lots of flowers, cards, speeches, tears, best wishes, presents, and champagne.

Last day at School in the Science Department

Saturday, calling in on Ann, Graham and family. A chance to say hi to Helen, back from Barcelona for a few days.

Easter Sunday, a big family meal and a fine day to celebrate Christine's birthday.

So when you're a retired couple and wanting your first day out you'd think finding somewhere for a coffe and a sticky would be no problem. Powys Castle.. shut, don't open on a Tuesday. Never mind there's Charlie's just opposite. Turn up and find there's a fire in the reptile department. Some daft python has pushed his log into the heater or something. Anyway, everyone's been evacuated including said reptile draped around glamorous sales assistant, as well as the resident eagle owl which entertained the customers until the fire engine had come and gone.

Eagle Owl

Thanks again to Ann and Graham for a fun night out at the Blues Brothers concert in Shrewsbury. What a great birthday present to us both!

It has been a hard winter and it's still snowing in Canada. Tim, Leah and Simon enjoying the snow and the sun. Are these Blues Brothers fans too?
